Installation

How do I install Hoursbill on Windows? +

Download the .exe installer from the homepage, run it, and follow the setup wizard. The app will launch automatically after installation. A 14-day free trial starts immediately.

How do I install Hoursbill on Mac? +

Download the .dmg file, open it, and drag Hoursbill to your Applications folder. On first launch, you may need to allow the app in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

The app won't open on Mac — what do I do? +

Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → scroll down and click 'Open Anyway' next to the Hoursbill message. This is a standard macOS security step for apps downloaded outside the App Store.

Licence & activation

Where do I find my licence key? +

Your licence key is sent by email immediately after purchase. Check your inbox (and spam folder) for an email from Lemon Squeezy or Hoursbill.

How do I activate my licence? +

Open Hoursbill, go to Settings → Licence, paste your licence key, and click Activate. An internet connection is required for activation.

I lost my licence key — can I get it again? +

Yes. Email us at hello@hoursbill.com with the email address you used to purchase. We will resend your key within 1 business day.

Can I use my licence on multiple devices? +

Your licence allows installation on up to 2 devices that you personally own or control.

SMTP email sending

How do I set up SMTP to send invoices? +

Go to Settings → Email in Hoursbill and enter your SMTP details. For Gmail, use smtp.gmail.com, port 587, and an App Password (not your regular Gmail password).

Gmail is blocking my SMTP connection — why? +

Gmail requires an App Password for SMTP. Go to your Google Account → Security → 2-Step Verification → App Passwords, create one, and use that in Hoursbill instead of your regular password.

Can I use Outlook or another email provider? +

Yes. Any SMTP-compatible email service works. Common settings: Outlook uses smtp-mail.outlook.com on port 587. Check your email provider's SMTP documentation for exact settings.

Billing & refunds

How do I get a refund? +

We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee. Email hello@hoursbill.com with your order number and reason. Refunds are processed within 5–10 business days.

My payment failed — what should I do? +

Try a different card or payment method on the checkout page. If the issue persists, contact your bank or email us at hello@hoursbill.com.

Will the price increase after the intro period? +

Yes. The current intro price of $9 will later increase to $29. Existing customers keep their licence at the price they paid.
